Love Is Like A Novel, Read The Blessed Pages...

Well, well, well... long time no blog huh? I've been half busy/half on a break up with this blog BUT the other night I was out at a bar when one of our BIGGEST (only?) blog fans inquired why I haven't been writing. I took that as a sign (and NOT a drunken rant, it was clearly his plea to have more of my AWESOME writing in his life!!!!) so here I am- filling your day with a useless, boring post! You're welcome :)

Today's post is very near and dear to my heart. It's all about one of my most favoritiest things EVER in the entire world: BOOKS! <here's where you clap in excitement>

I heart books. I read more than almost anyone else I know. I do own a kindle, but I'm still terrified that most technology is going to kill me in my sleep someday so I hardly use it. I even love the smell of books! Some would call this "nerdy" (myself included) but a good book makes me incredibly happy!!! I happened upon this website the other day and collected a few lil doo-dads for all you fellow book lovers out there. Think of it as my kind of porn.
Dream Room

This is my motto.
At first I was confused/concerned, and then I was like "Totally!"
Gentlemen, take note
BOOK NAILS!!!!!
Hey teeny, tiny book necklaces! You rule!

True Confession: my greatest fear about getting older is how little time I have left to read.

If I had more wall space, this would be MINE!!!!

Pictured Above: Mindy's future child. Or Mindy herself in 1983. Take your pick.

A map of fictional places I wish I could visit. For reals, I "eeeeeeeee"'d out loud in excitement when I saw this.
That's it. Surely we're all in agreement that I need a 12-Step program to deal with my odd book addiction. I'll await your intervention. In the mean time: 11/22/63 by Stephen King??? SO GOOD!!!!

I'm writing 'bout the book I read...

Time for another nerdy book update! I just finished “Dead Reckoning” from the Sookie Stackhouse series (a very guilty pleasure). For those of you not familiar with these books, they are the ones that the TV show “True Blood” is based off of. My sister Chris introduced me to the books before the television series started and they have become quite addicting. This is the 11th book in the series, although they are pretty short books. Very quick reads- easy to fit in to a busy schedule like mine (only took me 1 night to read it), but they are DEFINITELY not for kids or young adult readers. I have to say I was a tiny bit disappointed in this one (I feel slightly ashamed even saying that, seeing as they are vampire fantasy novels, am I truly becoming a weird single cat lady????). Hopefully she’ll publish the next one soon to move the story along better. True Blood will be starting again in June- can’t wait!!!

Hope things are sunny where you are!

"A good book has no ending."

R. D. Cumming knows exactly how I feel when reading a book; "Geesh, HOW many more pages???"

As my blogmates can tell you, I've never been much of a reader.  I do read magazines, and (sometimes) I do want to read books, but I just can't get "into" them.  Sitting on my nightstand is four such books: Toddler 411 by Denise Fields, Toddlerwise by Gary Ezzo, Eat, Drink and Be Healthy by Walter C. Willett, and Penny Saving Household Helper: 500 Little Ways to Save Big by Rebecca DiLiberto.  Each night, as I contemplate which book to read, I spot the fifth book on my nightstand: Puzzle Baron's Logic Puzzles by Puzzle Baron.  My left brain overtakes my right brain and I just have to complete a puzzle.

Logic Puzzle

Its my new obsession.  In fact, these puzzles have completely taken over my love of magazines (the pictures below shows the months' worth of magazines I keep brushing aside in favor of another logic puzzle).

In the meantime, I'd like to ask Kate (self-described bookworm), Mindy (loves books), or Karissa (corporate librarian) to read and summarize the four books listed above for me. Thanks GIRLFRIENDS!

Hugs to our followers,
LC

p.s. As a side note: This may sound silly, but Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli is the ONE book that changed my life and I plan to re-read it often.  For anyone looking for a quick read (its a young adult book), check it out.  In fact, my love for Stargirl runs so deep, I think I'll dedicate a post just to it.  Keep an eye out for it!

Take a look, it's in a book...

Is there a Book-It club for adults???

Currently, I am reading 5 books:
  • “A Storm of Swords” by George R.R. Martin (Page 832 of 1128; Recommended to me by LC’s husband, 3rd book in a series of greatness)
  • “The Orchard Keeper” by Cormac McCarthy (Pg. 166 of 246; As with all McCarthy reading, I am in a love/hate relationship with this book)
  • “William and Kate: A Royal Love Story” by Christopher Andersen (Pg. 235 of 301; Flying through it- a Prince & a Princess, royalty you guys!!!!!)
  • Washington: A Life” by Ron Chernow (Pg. 62 of 817… I wanted to hear about wooden teeth)
  • Finally, I just bought “The Healing of America: A Global Quest for Better, Cheaper and Fairer Health Care” by T.R. Reid (Pg. 11 of 272; Started it in line at Border’s bankruptcy sale and it came home with me)
