From a distance

Due to unexpected circumstances, I am missing out on our coveted Girlfriends Weekend.  I'm stuck at home, alone, feeling miserable.  Partly because I simply feel sick and partly because I know I'm missing out on a weekend of laughter and happiness. I hate that I'm not apart of a wonderful weekend.  Missing my friends and hoping that they have a great time.  I can't wait to hear the stories!

There goes my baby, with someone new...

BAD NEWS BEARS ALERT!!!! As some of you may remember (no one will remember because no one cared the first time because it's weird) I have a seriously strong love for the group Band of Horses. Not only is their music amazing, but one of their guitar players, Tyler Ramsey, is a seriously tall drink of water that has caught my fancy. Here he is singing one of my favorite songs he wrote, "Evening Kitchen"...

Ah, sweet, sweet Tyler. Clearly the lyrics of this song are a desperate message that your poor, giant heart has been broken and you can only be healed by love of one tall girl named Mindy (let me have this one guys). Well, I've been planning my attack, er... "courtship" ever since I learned of the tiny solo show you, yes YOU Tyler Ramsey, would be playing in my hometown this October. A teeny, tiny (one might even say INTIMATE) solo performance- the perfect place to meet and fall in love with a proportionally sized, single young woman. Well, imagine my HORROR when, while researching info on his latest solo album (NOT stalking him- you can prove nothing), I came across this news.

Isn't that just my luck? 11 days before my assault, er... "introduction" was to happen he goes off and gets married to some adorable woman who's probably insanely nice and will live out her days as the love of his life. What is up with that!?!?! The only positive spin to this situation will, hopefully, be many many MANY more love songs by Tyler and Band of Horses.

I hope nobody reads this blog and bans me from the show next week... things could get messy if I miss seeing him live.

The Mess You’d Wear With Pride…

Happy Sunday-Funday all! I’ve been enjoying some tunes while cleaning around the house. It’s starting to feel like SPRING outside which means summer concerts are just around the corner, yay! I have this ongoing list of songs I LOVE that I wish had been written about me (self-centered, party of one). Can you imagine if your lovely boyfriend/husband/love-god had penned something uber romantic and then set it to music (guitars and drums and piano and flutes!!!) and then played it over and over again night after night on tour, each time thinking of you??? Gah, I die.

One song that is near the top of my list is by one of my favorites, Band of Horses. It’s called “I Go To The Barn Because I Like The” (yes, that’s where the title ends) from their album Everything All the Time. If you haven’t heard it, take a listen…

Sadly, this song is no longer played live by the band since it was penned by Mat Brooke who left the band in like 2007 or something. Just after that album they released Cease to Begin which had another goodie, “No One’s Gonna Love You”, that you can also fall in love with and pretend was written about you (totally normal, right!?!?)

Patiently awaiting the next Band of Horses show…
