May I Have the Pleasure of Your Hand to Lead this Dance?

It's cold in Pennyslvania today. Like, late fall/early winter cold. Some places even got snow. Gross... gross, gross, gross, yuck. And since I'm still slowly battling back from this pneumonia junk I've been fighting off for three weeks (no, I'm not 83 years old), I've been spending any free time I can spare laying around in sweatpants (surprise, surprise) listening to music. Mostly I've been listening to my favorite girl crush, Rachel Sermanni. She is a beautiful & talented girl from the Highlands of Scotland that my friend Noel introduced me to. When I was in Dublin last month (ha, remember how I had billions of photos from my trip but never uploaded any of them?? that was fun), my friend Eamon got us tickets to go see her and it was amazing!!!

Proof.

The show (or "gig" if you hipsters prefer) was in this great venue in Dublin called Whelans. There was a fireplace in the room with a REAL FIRE GOING!  I loved it until they shut the doors and I feared being cooked alive, but still- not many places like that to see music here in Central PA. If she wasn't so sweet and her music didn't soothe my soul I'd probably want to stab her eyes out for being so beautiful. That's the nature of girl crushes I suppose. Anyway, since I am obsessively listening to her tunes these days I thought I'd share a few...

"Waltz" might be her best known song, although since she's yet to play any shows in the States I doubt many of you will have heard it.
This is the song she did as an encore in Dublin, which I believe Eamon and I agreed was our favorite. Ned's usually wrong about everything but this time he got it right.
Finally, this is her latest single that is available for download on her website.
Isn't she the bestest?? Here's to a warm & sweatpants-cozy week :)

Proposal

Found  here
I've enjoyed Up All Night this season, but I wasn't committed to watching next season until this proposal scene (at about the 16:55 minute mark).   I watched it six times! Its so unbelievable cheesy, and the hopeless romantic in me loves every minute of it.

As a note to my husband, if and when you want to re-proposal to me (with an Brangelina look-a-like ring ::hint, hint::), I'd total dig something like this.

Check out Up All Night's proposal (about the 16:55 minute mark)

Trip down memory lane

Three years ago Joe and I went to Wilmington (his old stomping ground) for Azalea Festival.  It was the perfect weather and the perfect road trip.  We were only dating at the time but I knew that this was something special.  Seeing these pictures just makes me happy.

So beautiful!

That's the USS North Carolina in the background

Warm sand. Love.
I love this man.

He still makes me laugh.

 I love happy memories.

Spring means strawberries

March was warm. Unseasonably warm. I'm kind of nervous about what that means for August. Until then I am going to enjoy the benefits of a warm spring. Strawberries--they're here. They are plump, juicy, and delicious. I decided to make my Aunt Carolyn's strawberry pie for Easter and it was delicious.

The recipe is from Taste of Home.  Go get some strawberries and make this pie!

Cozy and quaint

Joe and I tried out another restaurant in downtown Apex this week.  I am continually amazed with how active the downtown area is!  And the food has been excellent every time.

Mmm...pizza.

Makes me excited for the spring and summer downtown festivities to begin.

Chirp chirp chirp

We've got baby birds! I had noticed a nest on our front porch when we first moved in a month ago. I just assumed it was an old next but a few weeks later I noticed that a bird kept flying off in a huff every time I opened my front door to water the plants.  I started to pay attention more and realized that it was definitely an active nest.  Joe called me yesterday to say the baby birds made their appearance. I haven't seen them yet but he did! I'll see if I can get some pictures of them without scaring them off.  We have furniture being delivered this weekend so I hope they don't get too annoyed with the disturbance.

Can you see the nest up there?

Smart bird! I wish I could get a better view though!

Just another reason to love spring. Across the street from our neighborhood is a farm and the cows had their babies too.  I keep hoping that I'll see a baby bunny but not yet.

And the thunder rolls

When I left work yesterday there was the biggest storm cloud in the sky.  It was behind me and it was very odd to see sunny blue skies ahead and then look into my rear view mirror and see the dark scary looking clouds behind me.

Unfortunately, I was completely out of gas so I made a quick stop and prayed that I could get my tank filled before the fury was unleashed. While filling my tank, I took some pictures.

I love thunderstorms. I just don't like getting stuck outside in them!

Can you see that storm wall? It was the most amazing thing to see.

The good news was that I made it home dry!
